Your image is really never better than what the screen is able to reflect! The requirement on the performance of the screen increases as the source becomes available in higher quality and the projectors start rolling out 4K, laser and all other sorts of features. The DreamScreen series of UltraFrames is developed with 4K, HDR and high color accuracy in mind, and effectively combines a surprisingly competitive price with performance even true enthusiasts have come to embrace.

NEW! Resonance reducing frame design

As an increasing number of our customers is moving over to AT fabrics these days, we have placed great emphasis on the performance of the frame in such regards. One issue has been the potential of internal resonances within the confinements of the aluminum frame in setups where powerful speakers are placed behind the frame shooting audio forward. To reduce the risk of soundwaves bouncing back and forth within the frame, thus potentialle causing audible resonances, our 6. generation UltraFrame has a significantly smaller inner compartment than before which is also filled with acoustical dampening material.

The frame

The elegantly rounded shape provides an exclusive impression, and the 10cm width increases the framed effect. In addition, the frame is now covered in a brand new ultrablack hand wrapped velvet that absorbs light very effectively.

The frame is delivered in a “flat” package for more effecient transporting, but is still very easy to assemble. The long sides of the frame is now divided in two, reducing the size of the package significantly and thus also the transporting costs to our customers located all over the world. As such, we can now ship even the XXL frames up to 4,3m wide (185″ CineScope) worldwide at competitive shipping prices.

Both DynaGrey and BrightWhite screen material included

Included in the package is both a brand new V6 version of the DynaGrey light grey fabric with a gain-factor of 0.8 as well as the new 6. generation BrightWhite matte white fabric with a gain of 0.95.

The DynaGrey is our recommended choice for most regular setups in living rooms where walls and ceiling is typically white / light colored and thus reflective. The grey nuance in the fabric reflect less from the surroundings than a regular white fabric and therefore delivers improved image dynamics. However, this is at a cost of gain (the amount of light reflected), about 20% less compared to the BrightWhite fabric. Still, since image dynamics and contrast is of such importance for the perceived quality of the image, our clear recommendation is to use the BrightWhite fabric only in highly light-reflective-controlled rooms with dark / non-reflective ceilings, floors and walls surrounding the screen.

The DynaGrey

We actually reduced the gain from our 5. generation DynaGrey by 0.1 in order to obtain an even matter surface. This ultramatte surface provides the best image quality we have been able to supply to date and is a clear upgrade from our previous generations of fabric. The matter we are able to get the surface, the less you are able to see the actual structure from it. The best projection screen is actually the one you don´t notice at all!

Our V6 fabric (to the right) has been made significantly matter, providing even less visible structural appearance and noticeable improved overall quality

This gain in combination with the general design of the fabric secures that no speckles (reflective artifact) appears or polarization-residue remains (which is important when using active 3D). Speckle is a very common issue for screen-material in both high and low price-classes, a phenomena that both reduces the actual resolution / detailing of white / bright segments as well as introduces a lot of general noise to the image. We are dedicated to make certain such issues are not apparant with any of our screen-materals and would therefore never increase gain to levels that potentially introduces these issues.

Example of a (heavily) speckled (left) vs. a non-speckled (right) reflection

Furthermore, the fabric has an ultra fine structural coating, and with no use of fiber threads or other coarse elements the structure of the surface is not visible even at very close seating-distances.

The BrightWhite

The UltraFrame also includes the BrightWhite, matte white fabric with a gain-factor or 0.95. In addition to getting the surface matter than ever before on our BrighWhite as well, for the 6. generation, we´ve been able to get the color reflection down to an extremely impressive level of about 1-1,5% of that of the D65 reference; Stewart Studiotek 100. Although the grey material is also very color accurate, measured within 4% of the Stewart Studiotek 100, the V6 matte white fabric really is a cinema enthusiasts dreamscreen so to speak. If you do have the typical “batcave” cinema-room available, where floors, walls and ceiling close to the screen is dark and non-reflective in nature, this fabric is our clear reccommendation.
D65 tunedD65 is the term for the white-point all Blu-ray-discs and other types of video-content is mastered at. In order to display the image identical to your source you need to make certain your equipment projects that same D65 white-point.

Although calibration is still required even when the screen-material is D65 neutral, the neutral reflection will require less calibration-corrections than screen-material that moves primary colors too much in one direction or the other. For example, if a screen reflects green 5% more than it´s supposed to, the calibrator would need to reduce the overall brightness of the entire image by a significant % in order to compensate for the error.

Our DynaGrey fabric measures within 4% of the Stewart Studitek 100 reference, while the BrightWhite measures within 1-1,5%. Both fabrics are considered highly D65 color neutral, and will take very little toll on the brightness produced by your projector when calibrated to D65.
UltraWeave acoustically transparent fabric compatible frame

Our V6-frames are made to fit our reference quality, patent pending AT fabrics; the UltraWeave series, currently at 6. generation. The frame is equipped with custom fitted tracks that allows you to install specially designed fabric grip profiles included with the UltraWeave fabric. This patent pending fabric delivers world class quality in both acoustical transparency, D65 neutrality, structural appearance as well as a surface totally free of speckle and other common artifacts found in competing fabrics.

Using an AT screen allows you to place your speakers behind the screen providing several benefits, perhaps the most obvious; cleaning up the front-row by hiding the speakers. Also, delivering the sound from where the action actually takes place is surprisingly positive to the overall experience! In addition, the acoustical performance of your room highly depends on surfaces being possible to dampen so that flutter echo and other artifacts can be treated. The larger the screen, the more challenging it gets if you´re using a regularly non-AT screen. Thus, by using an acoustical transparent screen you can place sound absorbers behind the screen fabric and henceforth improve the overall sound quality significantly.
